It's a Wrap: Right Brain Music Podcast Series Finale

All good things come to an end, and after six years and 51 episodes, the Right Brian Music Podcast series has reached the station. Launch the grand finale by clicking below. This epsode is all about the sounds. It dances, wafts and flows through the world of right brain music.

Looking back, it’s hard to pick favorites from the many epsiodes that preceded this one. Lots of them feature unique musicians, some well established and others you may never have heard of previously. All are dedicated to changing the world through their craft. Right brain music is a different way of thinking, for both makers and listeners. Installments are about the length of a vinyl LP, can be experienced in any order and don’t expire. We encourage you to explore. Here’s a quick link to the full series.

A few highlights:

Episode 14 explores the concept of synesthesia, with Spontanea and artist Ellie Polk, who inspired an album of improvised music. Episode 28 takes us inside the creative music scene in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain region. In Episode 6, we meet the experimental guitar trio Lotus Lungs, one of a bunch dedicated to this instrument and its masters. Number 42 is all about the bass and number 33 is all about the trombone.

In Episode 24 we meet artists who make music in silos, caves and a giant water tank. Episode 9 includes guest hosts Justin and Germán from the free improv duo Bugs in the Basement; together, we review and discuss sample tracks from several other creative musicians. (This one has the most plays of all time.)

Episode 15 and Episode 21 features classical musicians who incorporate improvisation into their work. The former features Quest Ensemble from England. The latter was a joint presentation with The World Fusion Show and features the US-Indian trio Om Shalom. Number 47 is a facsinating exploration of the neroscience behind right brain music, with scientist-musician David Rosen. And don’t forget the still-popular innaugural episode, where it all began.

Let’s be clear: The music doesn’t end here! RBR will continue releasing albums from innovative artists and we may air occasional special podcast episodes in the future. You can keep tabs by subscribing to our e-newsletter.
