The Healing Power of Sound
If you’re reading this, you know something about the healing power of sound. Why do we all love music? Sound is innate to humans. It affects us in various ways. Sound healing is an ancient art that has only recently begun to emerge in our culture. Vickie Dodd is an acclaimed practitioner and author. She’s also a musician and a Right Brain Records recording artist. Her new book is titled “Healing Through Sound: Awakening the Audible Body.” We’re thrilled to feature Vickie in episode 49 of the Right Brain Music Podcast. Vickie has led workshops around the world. Her roots are in Ozark country of Southern Illinois, with Scots-Irish and Native American background. Her down-to-earth style helps her forge easy connections and makes for compelling reading.
Vickie has been collaborating with musicians for decades. A vocalist with an improvisational style that is singularly unique, her partners have included saxophonist Anthony Braxton, pianist Mike Vargas, bassist Joe Fonda, multi-instrumentalist Mark McCoin, cellist James Hoskins and guitarist Farrell Lowe. She’s released three Right Brain Records albums: one with Edge City Collective, another as a duo with James, and a most-recent record with both James and Farrell.
